Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide primarily weekend coverage and vacation relief in Lexington, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will be experienced in cardiothoracic surgery and proficient in first assisting with major cardiac and thoracic procedures.

This role includes responsibilities in the operating room, telemetry, and ICU , as well as inpatient rounding, procedures, and surgical duties.

Position Highlights

24-hour coverage

Primarily weekend coverage and vacation relief

Approximately 1–2 call days per week

Approximately 1 weekend of call per month

Weekend call runs Friday at 7:00 AM through Monday at 7:00 AM

OR, telemetry, and ICU responsibilities

Inpatient rounding and procedures

First assisting in:

CABG

AVR

MVR

Thoracotomy and lung resection cases

Requirements

Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Prior Cardiothoracic Surgery experience required

Proficient with first assisting in cardiac and thoracic procedures

Comfortable with OR, ICU, and telemetry responsibilities

Kentucky license required

BLS certification

ACLS certification

DEA registration
