Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity serving middle school students as a Special Day Class (SDC) education specialist. This full-time position runs Monday through Friday, from now until the end of the school year, allowing you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special needs.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Special Education teaching credential (specifically for SDC or appropriate mild/moderate or moderate/severe credential)
Experience working with middle school-aged children in a special education setting
Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
Expertise in developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and school staff

Main Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to students in a self-contained Special Day Class environment
Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
Monitor student progress, manage IEP documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, and administration
Foster a safe, supportive classroom culture that encourages academic and social growth
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
