OB Medical Director

The Medical Director – OB/GYN will provide clinical leadership, ensure high‑quality women’s health services, and drive strategic initiatives within the OB/GYN department. The Medical Director will oversee OB/GYN physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs), collaborate with clinical operations and leadership teams, and establish medical protocols to enhance women’s health services across the organization. This position is ideal for a board‑certified OB/GYN physician with administrative experience who is passionate about community health, maternal outcomes, and value‑based care. JOB DUTIES Establish and maintain professional standards within the OB/GYN department, including oversight of clinical protocols and evidence‑based practices in women’s health. Evaluate and monitor the quality of patient care services, with a focus on obstetric and gynecologic outcomes. Provide on‑site clinical leadership for OB/GYN providers at the organization. Oversee all onsite medical, academic, teaching, and training activities related to women’s health services. Oversee provider training programs in collaboration with the Human Resources department. Ensure compliance with clinical education, credentialing, and licensure requirements for OB/GYN providers. Partner with the Chief Medical Officer to plan, develop, and implement programs addressing maternal health, reproductive health, and community women’s health needs. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and retention of OB/GYN providers in collaboration with Human Resources. Represent the organization on OB/GYN and women’s health matters with external agencies, hospitals, and community partners. Provide direct patient care for a minimum of 6 clinical sessions in OB/GYN services, as directed. Monitor and improve utilization of the electronic health record (EHR) to support quality outcomes and revenue optimization. Ensure appropriate provider scheduling and coverage to meet patient demand for women’s health services. Oversee provider productivity in coordination with Clinical Operations and Site Management. Support initiatives aimed at reducing maternal and reproductive health disparities and advancing value‑based care. Oversee medical collaborations and referral relationships related to obstetrics, gynecology, and specialty care. Ensure compliance with FTCA requirements in collaboration with Human Resources. Maintain consistent delivery of high‑quality patient care standards across OB/GYN services. Participate in daily huddles to address patient care needs, including social determinants of health impacting women’s health outcomes. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, professional standards, and ethical practices. Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role. QUALIFICATIONS M.D. or D.O., Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Active and unrestricted Illinois medical license. 5+ years of clinical experience in OB/GYN. 3+ years of administrative or leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Experience in maternal health, women’s health, and/or community‑based care strongly preferred. Advanced degree in business, public health, or healthcare administration preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills in a patient‑centered environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Centricity, EPIC preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
