CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSOCIATE

Role Overview Intermediate level customer service work in a high-volume call center at the Sewerage & Water Board. Handle service requests and informational inquiries received via telephone, in‑person, fax, e‑mail, and other electronic media. Does not handle police, fire or EMS related public safety calls. Responsibilities Receive, process, and respond to service requests and informational inquiries from the public. Handle inquiries received via telephone, in‑person, fax, email, and other electronic services. Support call center operations as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Permanent status with the City of New Orleans or at least one year of customer service experience in a high-volume call center environment. Successful completion of required coursework (Basic Grammar Usage and Proofreading, Basic Office Skills, Techniques of Good Customer Service, Telephone Techniques) or equivalent, as determined by the Civil Service Department. One-year probationary period. Additional Requirements Applicants must pass a written test and a computerized keyboarding test with a minimum score of 20 words per minute after deduction of errors.
