Be at least 18 years of age . Have a High School Diploma or a GED with at least 12 college credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA . Possess a valid Texas Driver License. Be eligible for licensing by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Be proficient in reading and writing English. Meet all required physical agility standards. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must also: Have no felony convictions . Have no convictions for family violence offenses . Have no Class A or Class B misdemeanor convictions within the past 10 years . Meet all legal requirements for future TCOLE licensing. Be subject to disqualification if arrested on felony charges that affect TCOLE eligibility. May be disqualified for two or more moving traffic violations within the previous two years .
