Forward Deployed Engineer

Monaco is building an AI-native revenue platform that replaces the fragmented GTM stack - CRM, sequencing, call recording, enrichment, pipeline management with one unified system, consolidating 6–10 disconnected tools into a single platform built for the AI era. We launched publicly in Feb 2026, are already 65 people, and have strong early product-market fit generating millions in ARR within months of launch. You'll have the chance to both scale our core systems and build new features from 0 to 1. We've raised $85M in our Series B from Founders Fund, Benchmark, and Human Capital, and our founders previously led Brex, Apollo, and Clari. The Role You'll join Delta Force, Monaco's forward deployed engineering team. Forward Deployed Engineers are the tip of the spear for our most strategic customers: when Sales, CX, or GTM needs something the product can't do yet, you embed with them, take an ambiguous, high-stakes problem, and own all of it from first discovery to a live, adopted system. Scoping, architecture, the build itself, the data, the rollout, and the outcome. The closest comparison is being a hands-on CTO for whichever customer or feature you're on. This is a builder role, not an advisory one. You write production code, and you multiply your output by directing AI coding agents, so one engineer ships in days what used to take a team a quarter. Work does not arrive pre-specified. The request reaches you vague and urgent, and it is yours from there: find the real problem, cut it to the smallest version that solves it, build it, hand it off with docs. Real customers are waiting and the timelines are short. What You'll Do Embed and ship. Embed with Sales, CX, and customers to understand how their business actually works, then scope, design, and ship production systems on real customer data. Build the hard parts yourself. Agents, MCP servers, API integrations, data pipelines, Retool apps, and the glue between messy systems. Deploy and tune Monaco's agents in the field. Get a customer's agents live on their real data and keep raising output quality through prompts, context, and configuration. When an agent is held back by a missing tool, integration, or data source, build that too. Unblock deals and rescue at-risk accounts. Build the workflow, agent, integration, or demo on the prospect's own data that shows Monaco can do what they need, and build what removes the blocker to renewal. Own adoption, not just delivery. The hardest part of a go-live is people, not code. A build only counts once the customer's team actually runs on it. Turn one-offs into product. Decide what stays a custom build and what becomes a roadmap item, make that case with evidence from real customers, and turn repeated builds into playbooks and reusable tooling. Be the direct line between the field and the roadmap. Bring back failure modes, evals, and requirements that shape what Product and Engineering build next. What You'll Bring 3+ years in a technical, customer-facing role (forward deployed, solutions, or software engineering with heavy customer exposure); former founders strongly encouraged Production-grade full-stack coding ability (Python and/or TypeScript) and comfort with APIs, webhooks, SQL, and data infrastructure Hands-on experience building with LLMs: prompting, agents, evals, and AI coding tools as your default way of working A track record of owning a complex, ambiguous outcome end to end Executive-ready communication and low-ego collaboration with customer stakeholders Nice to Have Prior forward deployed, solutions, implementation, or consulting experience Deep familiarity with the GTM stack: CRMs, sequencing, enrichment, and RevOps workflows Experience building developer-facing assets: SDKs, reference apps, documentation Location San Francisco.
