Title: PES Community Grant Coordinator/Reading Intervention Teacher Job goal: To lead in the execution of the Community Schools Grant within Pikeville Elementary School, assuring that all conditions of the grant are met, as well as to provide intense reading intervention instructions to students through collaboration with classroom teachers, administration, families and others involved in the education of the student. Reports to: Building Principal Performance Responsibilities Lead activities, professional development, and proactive systems with the selected School Community Leaders Assist the Program Director with budget reporting, communications, advisory meetings, and planning for long‑term sustainability. Meet and instruct assigned classes at the locations and times designated. Plan lessons using the Kentucky Academic to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Plan lessons aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards, reflecting knowledge of students, specific instructional outcomes and clear structures. Create and maintain a classroom environment of respect and rapport. Prepare lesson plans based on course standards and KCAS as required by school principal and maintain the plans for three years. Prepare lessons with clear expectations and learning objectives and communicate these objectives to the students. Follow all school and district safety procedures including door closings and locks, student supervision, and safety drills. Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics for certified school personnel. Follow and promote all school rules and expectations and monitor student conduct. Develop a classroom management plan that reflects positive behavior supports (PBIS) and established expectations and routines; communicate a clear plan for classroom/school expectations and student conduct. Provide availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours when required or requested on reasonable terms. Attend staff meetings, serve on staff committees, and perform duties prescribed by the principal and school board policies. Seek out opportunities for professional development based on school goals, self‑reflection of effectiveness measures, and feedback from the principal. Contact the principal or designated representative as soon as possible when absent from school. Remain at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or designated representative. Implement all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines adopted by the school SBDM council and school board. Maintain a professional appearance as an example for students. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. The Board of Education delegates to the holder of this position the reasonable authority necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed. Participate in the selection, adoption, and inventory of textbooks. Foster communication with families regarding student progress and instructional programs. Communicate students’ concerns to the principal and school counselor. Incorporate the use of technology in daily instruction. Promote positive public relations. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Valid State Teaching Certificate for Specific Subject Area and/or Grade Level Reading or Literacy Specialist Endorsement Terms of Employment Salary commensurate with the Pikeville Independent Schools Certified Salary Schedule. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
