Ignite your passion for making a difference by supporting students with significant cognitive disabilities in a welcoming educational environment near Westlake, OH. This dynamic contract position involves guiding two moderate/severe classrooms, one at the K-3 level and another for grades 3-5. You'll play a vital role in creating inclusive learning experiences and fostering growth for each student.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (appropriate for K-5)
- Experience working with students who have significant cognitive disabilities
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies and adaptive technologies
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with support staff and families
- Ability to maintain patience, compassion, and flexibility in a dynamic classroom setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and support students in self-contained moderate/severe classrooms (K-3 and 3-5)
- Customize instruction to address individual learning needs and strengths
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support student goals
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress aligned with IEP objectives
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, independence, and positive behavior
- Implement differentiated strategies and behavior management plans as required
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide meaningful input toward student development
