SHEET METAL WORKER (AIRCRAFT)

Job Title Job Description Duties You will perform a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components. You will work from drawings, manuals, technical directives and instructions. You will use hand power tools and metal working tools to repair, manufacturer and/or modify aircraft or aircraft engine assemblies or parts. You will manufacture and install patches, splices, reinforcements and the use of replacement parts to repair damaged components. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Physical exertion requires heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 45 pounds. Any weight to be lifted in excess of 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided. This position requires near vision correctable at 14" to Jaeger 2 and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other. Must be able to distinguish colors and have depth perception. Eye protection is required in hazardous areas in the form of approved safety glasses with side shield, goggles and face shield.
