Job Description\n First Connect Health is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Houston, Texas.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n \n RN's need to be open to Floating!\n Busy/Large Level 1 Trauma\n Candidates need to be flexible on scheduling - no self scheduling\n EOW required\n EPIC required\n Successful placements here have 3+ years exp, pervious travel exp. and have worked in a very busy hospital in the past.\n # of Beds 12, SICU (6CA)\n Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:2, 1:3 depending on downgrade/acuity/emergency admit (infrequent when staffed)\n Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS\n Common diagnoses/Types of patients Liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries like endardectomies and fem/pop bypass, ENT for cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise airway, abdominal surgery like colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneursym, mastectomy, deep tissue flaps\n Experience or 'Must have' skills early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sites\n Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes\n Common titratable &/or set rate drips vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, cardene\n Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? yes; preference is free charge but depends on staffing, right now taking full assignment\n Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? intermittent, dependent on census, 1:12 when present. Patient ADL's, blood glucose checks, transport assist\n Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7?
