Overview
Speech Language Pathologist – Acute Care in San Luis Obispo, California. This travel temporary assignment starts on 10/19/2026 for 13 weeks. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations for adult inpatients in an acute care setting, including bedside swallow assessments and communication evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans with measurable goals; adjust plans based on progress and physician orders.
- Manage dysphagia therapy, voice therapy, cognitive-communication interventions, and other SLP services as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (nursing, physicians, OT, PT, social work, and respiratory therapy) to optimize patient outcomes and discharge planning.
- Provide patient and family education on therapy goals, home exercise programs, and post-acute care options; document progress and discharge recommendations.
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation of evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in required health information systems.

Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in an acute care hospital setting and respond to a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Willingness to participate in a travel assignment and comply with onboarding and credentialing processes.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and progress tracking; competency with standard electronic health record systems.
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week across day shifts.
- Credentialing and onboarding requirements will be completed prior to start; candidates should be prepared to meet those requirements.
