Job Summary Working Title: Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026). Role Code: 01013‑SW. Agency: Germanna Community College. Division: Germanna Community College (Div). Work Location: Culpeper, VA. Pay: $961–$1,997 per credit hour. Position: Part‑time, FLSA Exempt, UG. Eligibility: Virginia. Telework options: subject to change. Bilingual requirement: none. Schedule: Hours vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline to students from a variety of academic backgrounds. We are seeking a candidate who can teach Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) in‑person and/or online during the day. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring and up to 8 credit hours during summer. No continuation employment guaranteed. This position is located in Virginia. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance. Duties and Tasks Teach specific classes in the designated discipline. Develop course syllabi and instructional materials. Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress. Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS. Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization. Essential Functions Provide quality instruction by meeting assigned classes regularly, submitting required records and reports routinely, teaching the prescribed courses of study with the established texts, and adhering to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. Required Qualifications (KSA's) Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology). Ability to effectively teach classrooms and online. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent oral/written communication skills. Ability to use instructional technology. Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools. Additional Considerations Prior teaching experience. Work experience in the field. Experience with online teaching. Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
