Registered Nurse Cath Lab

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse - Cath Lab is responsible for providing specialized nursing care in cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and related procedural areas. This role involves patient assessments, administration of medications including blood products, cardiac monitoring, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient care. The nurse must be skilled in advanced cardiac life support and able to operate specialized equipment while working in a fast-paced, procedural environment. A minimum of 2 years of experience and required certifications are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, STEMI EP Lab procedures, and peripheral vascular stent placements.
• Administer blood and blood products safely and accurately.
• Perform cardioversion and defibrillation as needed.
• Manage patient temperature using cooling and warming blankets.
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs.
• Operate syringe pumps and other procedural equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and interdisciplinary team members to plan and deliver patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate patient status changes promptly.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide coverage during designated weekday and weekend shifts.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license with eligibility for compact licensure.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in cardiac catheterization or interventional radiology settings.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Experience with blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and 12-lead EKG acquisition.
• Ability to operate procedural equipment such as syringe pumps and temperature management devices.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in STEMI EP Lab, procedural biopsies, GI, GU/renal interventions, and peripheral vascular stent placements.
• Familiarity with interventional radiology and procedural nursing protocols.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirement: minimum one weekday and one weekend per month.
• Shift lengths may vary between 8 and 10 hours depending on staffing and vacation schedules.
• Must be able to work additional days and weekends as needed.
• Travel contracts available for candidates separated from Providence/Swedish facilities for at least 3 months.

Scheduling:

• Variable shift schedule including 8-hour and 10-hour shifts.
• Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.
