Registered Nurse Oncology

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Oncology provides skilled nursing care focused on acute care medical-surgical oncology patients and outpatient infusion services. The role involves patient assessments, chemotherapy administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care in an outpatient clinic setting. Strong communication and oncology nursing expertise are essential, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to oncology patients in outpatient infusion and clinic settings.
• Administer chemotherapy and other prescribed treatments safely and according to protocols.
• Perform patient assessments including vital signs, symptom management, and treatment response monitoring.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment regimens, side effects, and symptom management.
• Document nursing care, treatments, and patient responses accurately in medical records.
• Maintain compliance with oncology nursing standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid under compact state regulations.
• Minimum of 1 year acute care medical-surgical oncology nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and chemotherapy handling skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in outpatient oncology nursing and infusion services.
• Previous experience supporting outpatient MDs in oncology clinic settings.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend or on-call requirements.
• Previous permanent staff of Swedish facilities are not permitted to work as travelers.
• Must be able to work under active compact license rules.

Scheduling:

• Standard schedule is 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Option to work 4 days per week, 9-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
