Field Technician

Seeking a dependable, motivated Field Technician - Solar & Energy Use to assist with solar photovoltaic (PV), energy-efficiency, and building-performance projects throughout the Nashville area.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, learning new skills, and working in different environments from day to day. Our projects may take you onto rooftops, into attics and crawl spaces, and inside residential and commercial buildings.

No extensive solar experience is required. We are willing to train the right person. Construction, electrical, HVAC, roofing, weatherization, maintenance, or other hands-on experience is a plus.

What You'll Do

• Assist with residential and commercial solar PV installations
• Install and remove solar modules, racking, rails, and related equipment
• Assist with solar system service, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Perform attic and crawl-space inspections
• Assist with air sealing, insulation, ductwork, and other energy-efficiency improvements
• Support energy audits and building-performance testing
• Load, unload, organize, and transport tools and materials
• Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and job-site equipment
• Take photos, measurements, and basic field documentation
• Maintain clean, safe, and professional job sites
• Learn solar, energy-efficiency, electrical, and building-science practices while working alongside experienced professionals

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

• Physically capable and comfortable performing demanding field work
• Willing and able to work on roofs, climb ladders, enter attics, and work in crawl spaces
• Comfortable working outdoors and in hot or cold conditions
• Able to lift and carry approximately 50-60 pounds
• Dependable and willing to show up on time
• Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools
• Interested in solar energy, construction, electrical work, energy efficiency, or the skilled trades
• Professional and respectful when working in customers' homes and businesses
• Willing to learn and take on increasing responsibility

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are strongly preferred.


Experience


Previous solar experience is helpful but not required .

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

Solar installation • Electrical • HVAC • Roofing • Construction • Weatherization • Insulation • Building maintenance • Carpentry • General labor

We are especially interested in someone who wants to develop a career , rather than simply work an occasional labor job. The right person can gain valuable experience in solar PV, energy efficiency, building science, electrical systems, and clean-energy technology.

Job Location: Nashville, TN and surrounding Middle Tennessee area

Work Environment: Field-based; residential and commercial job sites

Schedule: Project-based/as needed initially, with opportunity for increased hours as workload grows
