Infection Prevention Coordinator (RN) - Full Time Day Shift

Infection Preventionist

The Infection Preventionist possesses knowledge of hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for coordination of the facility-wide Infection Control Program which includes surveillance, analysis, and reporting of infections; educating employees about infection control; and the development or revision of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA, Department of Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements. Prepares, presents, and coordinates clinical and non-clinical trainings to ensure staff competency upon hire and throughout their employment. Collaborates with program and department managers to design facility-wide programs to improve quality of care and employee performance through the development of staff knowledge and skills. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as an Infection Preventionist in a hospital or health care environment; completion of an APIC approved educational course or at least one year of experience working under the supervision of an experienced infection control practitioner. Must have advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
• Certifications/Licenses: Eligible to become certified in Infection Prevention within one (1) year of employment. APIC membership. Registered Nursing License in the State of CA required.
• Education: BSN required.
