The RN identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. The RN develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care. Modifications are made to the plan to meet clinical outcomes. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The RN supports evidence-based practice changes through research utilization. The RN creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment. Therapeutic relationships are developed with patients and families. The RN manages emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing. The RN recognizes and incorporates unique patient and family differences into care plans. The RN preserves and protects patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights. An individualized plan is created that reflects patient and family values.
