Commodity Buyer MetalsJob Description Position: Commodity Buyer MetalsLocation: USA (Cadillac, MI) & Mexico (2 plants)Reports to: Regional Purchasing DirectorPurpose of the Role: The Commodity Buyer is responsible for managing the purchasing activities of metal commodities across multiple plants (Cadillac, MI and two sites in Mexico). This role focuses on supplier management, negotiations, and ensuring continuity of supply, aligned with corporate purchasing strategies defined by the Regional Director and Corporate Headquarters.Key Responsibilities:Execute purchasing activities for metal commodities (steel, aluminum, stamping, forging).Manage supplier relationships, including daily communication and issue resolution.Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery conditions within corporate guidelines.Ensure timely supply to support production needs in the assigned plants.Monitor supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery) and escalate issues when necessary.Support cost reduction initiatives and implement improvement actions.Apply AKWELs purchasing processes and compliance rules.Collaborate with internal departments (Quality, Logistics, Finance, Projects) to ensure smooth operations.Qualifications & Skills:Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.5+ years of purchasing experience in automotive.Strong knowledge of metal commodities and supply base management.Negotiation and contract management skills.Proficiency in SAP and MS Office.Competencies:Effective communication and teamwork.Problem-solving, resilience, and multitasking ability.Strong organizational skills and results orientation.Focus on QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance).Why is This a Great Opportunity:Strategic role managing global metal purchasing.Direct exposure to leading automotive OEMs and innovative projects.Opportunity to drive supplier negotiations and performance improvements.Work in Novi, Michigan, a key automotive hub with strong industry presence.Salary Type: Annual SalarySalary Min: $70000Salary Max: $80000Currency Type: USD
