Job Summary:

Responsible for various activities in support of the deconstruction, maintenance and operations of buildings and facilities in the scope of a job assignment. Maintains job site by removing and disposing debris while demolition is being performed. Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Job Duties:

·         Moves material between various parts of the jobsite either by hand or by container, and moves materials out of building. 

·         Moves building debris within the jobsite. 

·         Assists with preparing/protecting job site and seals off work area, using plastic sheeting and tape.

·         Shovels debris into bins and other waste containment containers.

·         Responsible for keeping site and grounds clean and neat.

·         Loads and unloads construction debris into trucks and roll off boxes.

·         Maintains loading docks free of debris as well as pathway to and from jobsite.

·         Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures and operates equipment safely.  Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to supervisor.

·         Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Job Specific Requirements:

·         Knowledge of raw materials, quality control and basic hand tools. 

·         Able to load and unload trucks and/or bins

Physical Activities:

Manual Dexterity – The ability to quickly move hands and arms to grasp manipulate, or assemble objects.

Extent Flexibility – The ability to repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.

Static Strength – The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50#.

Trunk Strength – The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing.

Dynamic Strength – The ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time.  This involves muscular endurance and resistance to muscle fatigue.

Explosive Strength – The ability to use short bursts of muscle force to throw an object.

Stamina – The ability to exert oneself physically over long periods.

Job Conditions:

Work is performed primarily in an outside environment or in industrial/business building areas.  There is exposure to high equipment noise, chemical fumes, dust, and potential electric and machinery hazards.  Field conditions outdoors are varying weather conditions, with varying low to high equipment noise; walking on changing ground surfaces.   Exposed to the following materials: wood, metal, steel, plastics, drywall, pluming parts, glass, carpet, etc. 

Essential Abilities:

• Ability to follow written or verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks as directed.
• Ability to learn from direction, observations, and mistakes, and apply procedures using good judgment.
• Ability to work independently or part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.
• Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. unaided, stand and climb on ladders, and uneven/unstable surfaces.
• Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.

Personal Protective Equipment Used

The following is provided to all employees at time of hire, replaced as needed and must be worn at all times during work hours; gloves (cotton), support belt, nose and mouth masks, reflective vests, hard hat, goggles and, ear protection.  Work boots are not provided however are required and must be worn at all times at job site.

Other Tools and Equipment Used

Haulers are required to use the following: Hand tools, hand trucks, dolly, bins, containers, etc. 

Wear a tool pouch with box cutter, wire cutter, hammer and basic hand tools.  Push a wheeled bin known in-house as a “buggy”.

• Willingness to accept night and weekend callouts in emergencies.  Demonstrate good attendance.
• An attitude of adaptability and flexibility.
