Sr Supplier Engineer

Senior Supplier Engineer at Intuitive Surgical oversees supplier qualification, performance management, and continuous improvement across the supply base. The role supports both new product introduction and ongoing production, with focus on cost, quality, delivery, and compliance in a medical device manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Select, evaluate, and qualify suppliers; conduct part qualification including pFMEAs, FAIRs, and Cpk analysis
• Lead supplier corrective action requests, compliance audits, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma
• Guide R&D engineering on supplier selection and design for manufacturability during new product introduction
• Develop and monitor supplier performance metrics for cost, quality, delivery, and capacity
• Create supply base health reports and recommendations for management and quality review boards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum 10 years in supplier engineering, quality, or related field
• Expert knowledge of machined components, metal processing, and manufacturing techniques
• Proficiency with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and project management methodologies
• Strong understanding of 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 regulatory standards
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), Excel, Access, and CAD tools
• Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills at all management levels
