The Surgical Technician works under the supervision and delegation of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures. The Surgical Technician is an expert in theory and application of aseptic and sterile technique, knowledgeable of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgeon preferences to properly prepare the sterile field, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment. During the surgery, the Surgical Technician provides appropriate instrumentation and assisting through a combination of knowledge, participation, anticipation, and critical thinking. The Surgical Technician works alongside and assists the circulating nurse as well as other members of the surgical team.Essential FunctionsPrepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and suppliesEnsures good working order of equipment and instrumentsAssists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patientsPasses instruments to physician during surgeryReceives and processes specimens for delivery to the labWe believe that investing in our employees is the first step to providing excellent patient care.
