Accounting Supervisor

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland is seeking an experienced and collaborative Accounting Supervisor to lead Chancery Accounting Services and support the financial operations of parishes, schools, and cemeteries throughout Maine. Reporting to the Controller and Director of Parish Financial Services, this full-time exempt position oversees a team of onsite and remote bookkeeping professionals while helping ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial operations across the Diocese. This role combines day-to-day accounting oversight with leadership, mentorship, and partnership, serving as a valuable resource to parish and diocesan staff while supporting sound financial stewardship and organizational success.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, along with at least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience and prior supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes is essential, while experience with nonprofit accounting, Sage Intacct, and advanced Excel functions is highly desirable. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, approachable, and committed to providing exceptional support and service to our parishes and ministries.
