CNC Machinist

The Machinist – CNC HBM is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC Horizontal Boring Mill machines to manufacture large, precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining practices, blueprint interpretation, quality control, and safe manufacturing procedures to ensure high-quality production and on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) machines for precision machining operations. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices appropriate for each job. Load materials and accurately align large workpieces for machining. Monitor machine performance and adjust offsets, speeds, and feeds as required. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments. Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure compliance with quality standards. Conduct tool changes and routine machine maintenance. Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements. Maintain production records and document inspection results. Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean work area. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous three (03) years’ experience operating CNC Horizontal Boring Mills required. Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T principles. Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with production teams. Preferred Skills Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar CNC controls. Knowledge of G-code programming and editing. Experience machining large components and complex geometries. Familiarity with overhead cranes and rigging procedures. Understanding of tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and machining processes. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift materials (up to 50lbs) and tooling as required. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, heavy equipment, and moving machinery. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). #J-18808-Ljbffr
