The Role

We’re looking for a Legislative Assistant to join our energy, environment, and critical minerals practice. The ideal candidate has a year or more of experience on Capitol Hill or in federal lobbying, knows how Congress works from the inside, and is ready to move fast in a client-facing environment.

This is not a siloed research role. You will work directly with our lobbyists, contributing behind the scenes on the strategy, research, and materials that drive client outcomes, and own real responsibilities from day one.

What You’ll Do

• Track legislation, regulations, and administration activity across energy, environment, and critical minerals
• Attend hearings, markups, briefings, and press conferences, and write clear, useful summaries
• Draft client-ready materials including issue briefs, meeting prep, weekly reports, and appropriations memos
• Schedule and coordinate client meetings on Capitol Hill and with the administration
• Organize fly-ins for small and large groups
• Maintain contact databases, legislative trackers, and appropriations trackers
• Support new business development, including helping draft proposals
• Pitch in on firm-wide projects and events. We’re a small team and everyone contributes

What We’re Looking For

• One or more years working on Capitol Hill or in federal lobbying (priority); administration experience considered
• Background or genuine interest in energy, environment, or critical minerals policy
• A clear, concise writer and communicator who can translate policy into plain language for busy clients
• Self-directed and adaptable; you take initiative, stay steady when priorities change, and don’t wait to be told what needs doing
• Dependable and detail-oriented; you respond promptly, follow through, and offer flexibility when the legislative calendar demands it
• Collaborative and approachable; you share credit, ask for help, bring others along, and are willing to pitch in wherever needed
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Nimble and curious with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor
