Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for patients recovering from surgical procedures. Ensure patient safety, comfort, and stability during the critical post-anesthesia phase through vigilant monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients' vital signs, consciousness, and pain levels continuously to detect any signs of instability.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians to manage pain, nausea, and other post-op symptoms.
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless patient recovery processes.
• Record accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies or complications.
• Educate patients and their families on post-discharge care instructions and recovery expectations.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid CA RN license with current certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and CA license verified through Nursys within the last 2 weeks.
• At least 2 years of recent PACU or post-anesthesia care nursing experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response procedures.
• Display strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including 3x12 hour shifts, with availability for float to ICU if needed.
