Duties/Responsibilities:
- Investigate consumer complaints and identify potential legal violations.
- Provide expert legal advice to clients on their consumer rights and protections.
- Draft and file legal documents related to consumer protection cases.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, settlements, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
- Research and analyze legal issues related to consumer fraud and deceptive practices.
- Pursue litigation against companies engaged in unfair business practices.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of consumer protection laws and regulations.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in legal research tools and software.
- Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to advocating consumer rights and interests.
Education and Experience:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in consumer protection law, including DTPA claims, litigation, and arbitration.
- Membership in the Texas State Bar Association.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 20 pounds at times.
