Secretary For School-Age Program

The Secretary provides administrative and clerical support for the School-Age program and acts as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and guests coming into the facility. This position is Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where individuals who enter the center are treated with dignity and respect in a friendly, personalized manner. Demonstrate a positive and pleasant approach to employees, families, and visitors on the phone and in-person.
• Assist in classrooms supervising children when needed to satisfy ratio requirements and provide extended classroom and/or kitchen coverage. Serve as primary restroom break person for staff in the absence of a float.
• Promptly and professionally answer incoming calls and make appropriate connections. Take and relay messages as necessary.
• Maintain the center's supply inventory and order equipment and supplies as needed.
• Record daily student attendance and transportation requests and enter data into the ChildPlus system.
• Perform necessary record keeping tasks, including medical log.
• Perform clerical tasks, and distribute staff and parent communication

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with children
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
• Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
• Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds.
