LOOKING TO HIRE A BILINGUAL PHLEBOTOMIST

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws using straight needles for the majority of collections and butterfly needles for difficult or hard-to-access veins.
• Collect blood specimens from a wide range of patients, including pediatric patients, following established phlebotomy procedures and safety protocols.
• Work in a patient service center setting, drawing blood and ensuring a professional, courteous, and reassuring experience for all patients.
• Verify patient identity, label specimens accurately, and ensure proper documentation for all collections.
• Handle specimen processing and collection tasks as required, ensuring samples are prepared and managed according to guidelines.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all administrative and clinical tasks related to specimen collection and processing.
• Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with patients and colleagues to ensure clear instructions and a positive patient experience.
• Follow all clinical, safety, and infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Manage time efficiently to meet daily patient volume and scheduling requirements within the patient service center.
• Support a culture of accuracy, professionalism, and patient-centered care throughout all phlebotomy activities.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience drawing blood in a clinical or patient service environment.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including the use of straight needles for most blood draws.
• Ability to use butterfly needles effectively for hard sticks and challenging venipunctures.
• Experience working with pediatric patients and performing pediatric blood draws.
• Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in labeling, documentation, and specimen handling.
• Solid administrative skills related to specimen collection, processing, and recordkeeping.
• Knowledge of proper specimen collection procedures, safety protocols, and infection control practices.

Work Environment

This role is based in a patient service center where the primary focus is on drawing blood and managing specimens in a clinical setting. The position offers a consistent full-time schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with every other Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling approximately 40 hours per week. The environment involves direct patient interaction, including pediatric patients, and requires the use of phlebotomy equipment such as straight needles and butterfly needles. The role may involve in-state travel and provides variety in daily work locations, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy a change of scenery. The work setting emphasizes accuracy, safety, and patient-centered care, with a professional clinical dress standard appropriate for a healthcare environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brentwood, NY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Brentwood,NY.
