Book a virtual interview NOW: Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations within a patient service center. Responsibilities * Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. * Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. * Decontaminate and update patient information. * Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. * Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner. * Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. * Fully understand all physicians' orders. * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. * Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. * Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. * Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures. * Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and label them accurately. * Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. * Attend annual department trainings. * Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills * Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. * Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. * High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications * 2-4 years of experience in a similar role. * Strong customer service skills. * Experience with straight needles and specimen collection. Work Environment This is a non-float position located inside a patient service center. The phlebotomist will work Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 12:30 pm, conducting 15-35 draws daily. The role requires working as part of a team, dealing with patients of all ages. Training will be conducted on-site at the same location where the candidate will work.
