Job Title: MRI Technologist

License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Description:
Following established protocols and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, MRI Technologists perform procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
Technologists assist radiologists with procedures as needed and supervise student MRI Technologists assigned to them.
Maintains good customer relations and ensures the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures through age-appropriate care.
Obtains correct written orders for procedures and utilizes time efficiently to meet work quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations.
Instructs and prepares patients regarding imaging procedures and assists in obtaining informed consent as needed.
Ensures patients understand the procedures and communicates discharge instructions to family members.
Ensures correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical history are entered into the computer system.
Communicates effectively with radiologists regarding procedures in both verbal and written situations while presenting a positive and professional demeanor.
Adheres to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
Practices good radiation protection and follows established guidelines from relevant governing organizations.
Completes annual mandatory in-services and maintains current licensure requirements.
Supports department efforts in meeting established projects and goals.
Holds medical and sensitive information in confidence and promotes the mission and values of the healthcare organization.
Assists other members of the Imaging Team and clerical staff to maintain records, reports, and files.
Demonstrates flexibility and accountability in job duties and takes initiative to improve departmental operations.
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to perform and teach MRI exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images for interpretation.
Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations is required.
Responsible for the safe operation of MRI and post-processing equipment.
Ability to operate standard office equipment is essential.
Requires a mature individual who projects a professional and business-like appearance.
Must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.
Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients are required.
Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity is necessary, along with constant reaching with hands/arms.
Frequent talking and hearing, with corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue may occur, as well as possible exposure to infectious materials and conditions common to a healthcare environment.
Frequent exposure to radiation risk is part of the role.
Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may happen, along with the risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Work conditions may vary from quiet to moderate noise levels.
Job responsibilities may require working under stressful conditions, meeting deadlines, or irregular hours.
Being on call or working weekends/holidays might be necessary based on departmental needs.
