The schedule will include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a total of 36 hours, with the possibility of including Monday for a total of 48 hours. We are seeking highly motivated critical care nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The team provides care to some of the most critically ill patients and often receives patients needing advanced care from various regions. The primary service lines include cardiothoracic surgery and neuro/neurosurgery. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the unit was also tasked with providing ICU-level care for patients suffering from COVID-19, including those requiring extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Unit capacity is 15 beds. Patients served include those with cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, and patients post-cardiopulmonary arrest or ventricular assist device placement. The patient ages range from adolescent through late adult (14 - 60+). The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. The direct patient care staff consists of registered nurses and patient care techs. BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications are required for this position.
