Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join Drs. David and Jane Silk’s dental team in Solon, OH. The ideal candidate will have proven EFDA experience, solid clinical skills (temporaries, rubber dams, composite restorations, digital scanning), and a strong commitment to patient comfort and clear communication. Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Perform expanded functions as permitted by Ohio law and practice protocols, including fabrication of temporaries, placement of rubber dams, and placement/finishing of composite restorations

Capture digital impressions/scans and assist with digital workflow

Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain aseptic technique

Assist the dentist chairside during procedures, anticipating instruments and materials

Take and process digital radiographs and intraoral images as appropriate

Communicate procedure steps, postoperative instructions, and care tips to patients with kindness and clarity

Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records in the practice management system

Support team workflow, patient scheduling, and office cleanliness

Participate in continuing education and training as needed

full-time $34 - $38 per hour

Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

One Saturday per month: 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Fridays: office closed

• Basic life support
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Infection Control License

Valid EFDA certification or licensure as required by the State of Ohio

Current CPR/BLS certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum 2 years of hands-on dental assisting experience that includes EFDA-level duties (or equivalent demonstrable experience)

Working knowledge of dental terminology, restorative materials, and infection control standards

Experience using an intraoral scanner and basic computer skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patient-focused and compassionate

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity

Eligibility to work in the United States

Experience with practice management software and digital radiography systems

Additional certifications (e.g., radiography license) or ongoing dental education

Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) a plus

Previous experience in a private dental practice setting
