The Hinterland Group is a Chicago-based real estate development and private equity firm pursuing ground-up and adaptive reuse development across multifamily, hospitality, and commercial assets in the Midwest - with an active project pipeline in Chicago, Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Birmingham, MI.
Were growing our team and looking for a Director of Capital Markets to lead investor relations, capital formation, and LP engagement across our deal pipeline.
A unique opportunity: This is a rare chance to partner early with a fast-growing PE and real estate development platform - stepping into a role with direct principal access, real influence over how we build our capital markets function, input into the future of the firms investment ethos and initiatives, and upside for the person who helps us scale it.
What youll own:
Drive capital raises for individual deals and fund vehicles - from initial outreach through close
Manage THGs deal room and investor platform (onboarding, data room integrity, investor communications)
Craft compelling investor presentations, deal memos, and LP updates in partnership with our development team
Coordinate NDAs, subscription agreements, and closing logistics with legal counsel
Represent THG at industry events and cultivate a pipeline of warm capital relationships over time Who you are: 10-15+ years in capital markets, investor relations, placement, or private equity fundraising
Existing network of accredited investors, family offices, or institutional capital sources - this is non-negotiable
Deep familiarity with Reg D offerings (506b/506c), LP deal structures, and private placement mechanics
Strong communicator who can translate complex development deals into compelling investment narratives
Self-directed operator comfortable in a lean, fast-moving firm environment
Preferred: active broker-dealer / registered representative licensing (e.g., Series 7, 63/79/82)
Preferred: established relationships with APAC and Middle Eastern investment groups, family offices, and banks, in addition to a strong domestic US LP network Why THG:
