Job Title: Assembler Job Description
Under close supervision, this role performs a variety of electro-mechanical subassembly and assembly operations to build and assemble units such as power connectors, modules, chassis drawers, cable harnesses, electronic systems, and subassemblies. The position involves semi-skilled work using hand and small power tools, soldering equipment, and test instrumentation to produce high-quality, reliable components.
Responsibilities- Follow production drawings, sample assemblies, worksheets, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions to complete assembly tasks accurately.
- Select appropriate components based on worksheets and wiring diagrams for each assembly job.
- Mount assembled components using manual dexterity and simple hand tools, soldering equipment, volt meters, and other related test instrumentation.
- Perform cleaning, lead preparation, component mounting, and parts orientation to prepare assemblies for production.
- Connect component lead wires to printed circuit boards and route and connect wires between individual components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
- Position and align parts in specified relationships using jigs, fixtures, or other holding devices to ensure proper fit and function.
- Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to securely join and fasten parts in place.
- Use hand and small power tools to place small components into boards, cables, connectors, and other assemblies.
- Inspect parts and perform basic tests to verify that assemblies meet specified requirements.
- Perform additional assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies as needed.
- Adjust or trim materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
- Perform hand soldering using a soldering iron on various components and assemblies.
- Perform soldering and general inspection work under a microscope when required for precision tasks.
- Conduct online go/no-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Troubleshoot finished products to identify defects and replace or correct defective components.
- Rework and repair defective units that have been rejected by inspection or test personnel to bring them up to standard.
- Follow safety procedures in the use and handling of flammable and hazardous chemicals to meet all cleanliness specifications.
- Adhere strictly to specific procedures and detailed instructions, completing tasks as directed.
- Ensure that all required quality checks are completed and documented.
- Record information accurately on production records, logs, and other report forms to support traceability and compliance.
- Ability to follow production drawings, sample assemblies, worksheets, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions under general supervision.
- Proficiency in using simple hand tools and small power tools for assembly work.
- Experience with soldering equipment and performing hand soldering on electronic components.
- Ability to use volt meters and related test instrumentation during assembly and inspection.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to mount and align small components accurately.
- Knowledge of cleaning, lead preparation, component mounting, and parts orientation in an electro-mechanical assembly environment.
- Capability to connect component lead wires to printed circuit boards and route wires between components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
- Skill in performing fastening operations including crimping, staking, screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, soldering, cementing, and press fitting.
- Ability to inspect parts and perform basic tests to verify conformance to specifications.
- Capacity to perform work, including soldering and inspection, under a microscope when required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific procedures and detailed instructions completely.
- Commitment to following safety procedures, particularly when working with flammable and hazardous chemicals.
- Ability to complete quality checks and maintain accurate production records, logs, and reports.
- Experience with assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies.
- Familiarity with online go/no-go testing and inspection processes in a production environment.
- Experience troubleshooting and reworking defective units to meet production standards.
- Comfort working in a structured, procedure-driven environment with close supervision.
- Ability to work with cable harnesses, connectors, modules, chassis drawers, and other electro-mechanical assemblies.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based at a manufacturing facility in San Diego, CA. The position operates on a first shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with an expectation of approximately 10 hours of overtime per week and occasional Saturday work as production needs require. The work is performed in an electro-mechanical assembly environment using hand tools, small power tools, soldering equipment, volt meters, microscopes, and other test instrumentation. Employees handle components, cables, connectors, and printed circuit boards, and may work with flammable and hazardous chemicals while following established safety and cleanliness procedures. The environment is structured and process-oriented, with close supervision and detailed procedures guiding daily tasks.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
