About the Role

The Company is in search of a VP of Design for Childrenswear, with a focus on surf and swim lifestyle brands. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the overall trend and design strategy for boys and girls, ensuring that the products are original, on-trend, function-driven, and commercially viable. This role requires experience in leading a team of designers, creating products that align with brand identity, and integrating fashion into the product and spirit. The VP of Design will collaborate with leadership to create design roadmaps, lead the seasonal concept process, and maintain a cohesive product assortment. Strong management, leadership, and cross-functional partnership skills are essential, as is the ability to think innovatively and adhere to the product development calendar. Applicants for the VP of Design position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' of cross-category fashion design experience in childrenswear, including sportswear, swim, beach, and surf. The role demands a candidate with a strong taste level, a proven track record in building a line and storytelling, and the ability to present ideas and products clearly. A dedication to creating great consumer experiences, a collaborative and entrepreneurial attitude, and the ability to manage a team and work well cross-functionally are also required. The ideal candidate will have a successful history of working with merchandising, adhering to calendar milestones, and maintaining seasonal development costs within budget. Experience in performance is a plus, but the integration of fashion into the product and spirit is of paramount importance.
