Senior Commercial Counsel

Serve as a trusted legal partner to sales and procurement functions, reporting to the Head of Commercial Legal Review and negotiate inbound and outbound commercial contracts Draft and negotiate SaaS licensing agreements, strategic partnership agreements, data processing agreements, and other contracts with enterprise customers and suppliers Develop and manage contract templates and negotiation playbooks Improve sales contracting processes in collaboration with Sales Operations Create business-focused processes supporting internal stakeholders as WRITER grows and scales Identify and fix inefficient processes Enable and train go-to-market teammates through practical legal advice and guidance Requirements A law degree from an accredited law school Admitted to practice law in the U.S. 7+ years of experience negotiating commercial contracts Experience ideally at a SaaS company and/or law firm servicing tech industry clients Experience contracting with large enterprise companies and strategic partners, often in heavily-regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and insurance Exposure to privacy, IP, and/or AI-specific legal issues Basic understanding of AI Experience using contract management tools Familiarity with legal operations, project management, and CLM tools such as Asana, Salesforce, and Linksquares Strong work ethic, ability to think on your feet, and sense of humor Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a non-legal way Ability to work efficiently, prioritize, and multitask under tight deadlines Self-starter with a low-ego, collaborative approach Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, particularly in SaaS and heavily-regulated industries. Proficient in developing contract templates and improving sales contracting processes while providing practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders.
