We are seeking an Associate Director, State & Local Government Consulting to lead high-impact engagements for Texas state agencies, local governments, and public sector organizations. This role combines client leadership, delivery excellence, business development, and team mentorship, offering the opportunity to work directly with senior executives on initiatives that impact local communities. About This Role You will be leading meaningful client transformations, partnering with agency executives, CIOs, business leaders, and transformation teams to deliver strategic consulting engagements focused on: Digital transformation AI strategy and adoption Technology modernization IT operating model transformation Organizational effectiveness Data and analytics Strategic planning Workforce transformation Program and project management Procurement assistance and sourcing Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Our Consulting Associate Directors are leaders, responsible for directing a team of Gartner consultants and subject matter experts to ensure the execution of a statement of work. You will also support our Managing Partners in their business development activities, supporting client meetings, conferences, and sales presentations – and subsequently, help to create discussion documents, scoping documents, and formal proposal responses as requested. - Work directly with government executives and senior leaders on strategic initiatives that shape organizational direction and public outcomes. What You’ll Do As an Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for: Driving Exceptional Consulting Delivery o Lead consulting engagements from project kickoff through successful completion o Manage project scope, quality, risks, financial performance, and client satisfaction o Design and deliver engagements using approved AI-tools o Guide consulting teams in developing actionable recommendations and executive-level deliverables o Build long-term client relationships that create lasting impact o Ensure engagements deliver tangible value and sustainable results Contributing to Business Growth by: o Identifying opportunities to address emerging client challenges o Supporting proposal development and client presentations o Collaborating with Managing Partners and other Gartner team members o Contributing to consulting offerings and thought leadership o Helping clients understand how emerging technologies, including AI, can support their strategic objectives Building Community & Developing Future Leaders o Mentor consultants and project managers o Foster collaboration and high performance across consulting teams o Share best practices and lessons learned o Contribute to recruitment and talent development efforts What We’re Looking For: Required Qualifications o 7+ years of experience in IT consulting, government transformation, technology strategy, or related fields o Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-tools to efficiently produce accurate and quality analysis and insights o Previous experience serving state government, local government, higher education, or public sector organizations o Project Management experience o Strong problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills o Bachelor's degree o Austin-based Preferred Qualifications o MBA/ MPA or other advanced degree o PMP or other equivalent certifications o Sales experience and/or experience managing executive-level client relationships o Prior system implementation experience Who Thrives Here: Those passionate about improving outcomes in the public sector Curious and strategic thinkers Trusted advisors who build executive relationships Strong communicators who simplify complex challenges Collaborative leaders who develop others Problem-solvers who enjoy tackling ambiguity Who are we? Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
