Director of Taxation

TAX DIRECTORA well-established, highly profitable regional accounting firm is in search of a Tax Director to join their expanding team. This role provides a balanced work-life schedule, attractive benefits, including substantial bonuses and a 5% employer contribution to the 401K plan, an array of both SEC and privately held clients from diverse industries, and a direct path to Partnership!ResponsibilitiesConducts in-depth tax reviews and approves tax returns and audits of varying complexity.Serves as an expert in a specific discipline or industry.Manages client service tasks to ensure timely completion within budgeted timeframes.Takes on full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegates tasks to tax preparers as needed.Actively participates in client meetings and tax planning activities to support the A&A Department with major clients.Serves as a resource for tax specialists and staff on specific tax-related issues.Assumes client service duties for specific clients and projects assigned by the Partner.Communicates important tax updates to the firm's personnel.Manages tax examinations and represents clients before tax authorities when needed.Oversees the qualifications of tax staff and reviews their assignments.Contributes to the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff, aiding in professional development programs.Handles billing processes accurately and in a timely manner.Maintains a thorough understanding of the company's tax philosophies and perspectives.Stays updated on economic and political trends impacting tax legislation and business climate.Participates in practice development initiatives through community engagement and industry networking.Provides coaching and training to senior, semi-senior, and junior accountants.Participates in tax department reviews and evaluations.May require occasional travel to client sites, meetings, or seminars.Occasional overtime work is expected, particularly during tax season.QualificationsSeven to ten years of public accounting experience with a focus on increasing tax complexity and research.Minimum of two (2) years representing clients in front of taxing authorities.At least one (1) year supervising and directing tax preparers.Bachelor's degree in accounting required; Master's degree in taxation preferred.Annual continuing education of at least forty hours to enhance technical and business skills.Active CPA license and good standing with the AICPA.
