Industrial Electrician

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment. You will ensure high equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support overall equipment effectiveness by performing methodical diagnostics, safe repairs, and continuous improvement of production machinery, including high-speed packaging lines and flexographic printing presses.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic systems, including high-pressure compressed air distribution systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, including cylinders and pumps.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical control systems using basic troubleshooting skills on platforms such as Siemens Simatic, PLC systems, Beckhoff controls, proximity switches, relay logic, limit switches, network communication systems, Profibus, and Profinet.
  • Configure and commission inverters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servos, encoders, and motors to support reliable machine operation.
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, meggers, oscilloscopes, and clamp-on ammeters to identify and resolve electrical issues.
  • Apply a solid understanding of safety practices, including OSHA requirements for lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Work on a variety of mechanical systems using appropriate tools and PPE, including packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gear boxes, drive shafts, pulley systems, sprockets, rollers, solenoids, valves, splitter blades, bearings, shafts, belts, timing belts, and chains.
  • Work at heights and safely drive and operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts on a regular basis.
  • Assess equipment failures quickly and methodically under pressure, determine root causes, and implement effective and lasting repairs.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks and make critical decisions to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) for each piece of equipment.
  • Read and interpret European electrical schematics and order appropriate components as needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter, show interest in learning new equipment, and continuously develop technical skills.
  • Support and maintain flexographic printing presses and high-speed packaging lines, with a focus on reliability and performance.
  • Perform maintenance mechanic duties within a manufacturing plant, contributing to both electrical and mechanical upkeep of production machinery.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support production goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working with pneumatic systems, including high-pressure compressed air distribution systems.
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems, including cylinders and pumps.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for electrical control systems, including Siemens Simatic, PLC platforms, Beckhoff controls, proximity switches, relay logic, limit switches, network communication systems, Profibus, and Profinet.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure inverters, VFDs, servos, encoders, and motors.
  • Proficiency using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, meggers, oscilloscopes, and clamp-on amp meters.
  • Basic understanding of safety and OSHA requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work on mechanical systems such as packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gear boxes, drive shafts, pulley systems, sprockets, rollers, solenoids, valves, splitter blades, bearings, shafts, rollers, belts, timing belts, and chains.
  • Ability to work at heights and operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work methodically and quickly under pressure to assess equipment failures, identify root causes, and perform effective repairs.
  • Capability to prioritize jobs and make critical decisions to reduce downtime and improve OEE.
  • Ability to read European electrical schematics and identify and order required components.
  • Ability to distinguish colors accurately for electrical work.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintenance mechanic work within a manufacturing plant.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Physical ability to lift 4170 pounds and to walk or stand for at least 5 hours during a shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with flexographic printing presses and high-speed packaging lines.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in repairing W&H Tuber and Bottomer machines (preferred).
  • Electrician certification (preferred).
  • Bachelor of Science degree or mechanical certifications (preferred).
  • Strong interest in learning new equipment and technologies.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems in a production environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment on a first shift schedule, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required on weekdays and occasionally on Saturdays to meet operational needs. The role involves regular work around production machinery, including flexographic printing presses, high-speed packaging lines, and related mechanical and electrical systems. You will frequently walk or stand for at least 5 hours per shift and lift 4170 pounds as part of normal duties. The work requires operating equipment such as scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts and working at heights when necessary. Work hours may be adjusted when needed to ensure that the needs of the operation and its customers are met. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety practices, including LOTO and arc flash procedures, are essential parts of the work environment.

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $58240.00/yr.
