Security Systems and Access Control Manager Position Summary The Security Systems and Access Control Manager reports to the Associate Director for Facilities and provides leadership and oversight for security systems, access control operations, key and lock management, and disability‑related access systems within University Housing. This role is responsible for developing and implementing security strategies, managing security infrastructure and related processes, identifying and mitigating security risks, and improving operational effectiveness. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience Preferred Qualifications Five years of relevant leadership experience working within higher education, hospitality or medical facilities. Five years of project management experience specific to developing and improving organizational processes. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Strategic thinking, plan development, execution of solutions and leading others. Electronic security systems, access control technologies, key and lock systems, surveillance systems, and related security infrastructure. Project coordination process including budgeting and accounting, scheduling and scope development. Quality control processes associated with facilities management and APPA standards. Training programs associated with standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of building services, structural and skilled trades. Occupational hazards and safety precautions of building services, structural and skilled trades. Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access and willingness to learn new programs and software as required. Database entry skills. Leadership, supervision and development of a variety of professional, technical, and student staff. Autonomous work using provided concepts to develop and execute process improvements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, customers, administrators, colleagues, and external partners. Coaching, conflict resolution and addressing employee performance through effective communication. Designate as Essential Personnel Pool and may be required to report to work during inclement weather or other emergency situations as directed by supervisor. Participate in departmental all‑hands‑on‑deck events such as move‑in, move‑out, residence hall emergencies. Physical Demands Walk, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, may work from a ladder or scaffold. Bend at the waist and knees. Work with arms and hands overhead for extended periods. Climb ladders, use hand tools and power tools. Lift and move items at least 50 pounds, both assisted and unassisted. May occasionally perform work duties outdoors in hot or cold weather. Communicate verbally and in writing to a wide variety of constituent groups via telephone, computer or in person. Utilize computer technology for all applications in a manner that meets performance expectations. Safely operate a UGA state vehicle as necessary. Duties & Responsibilities Security Systems and Access Control Oversight : Lead operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of security systems, access control systems, key and lock programs, and disability‑related access technologies; identify process improvements; represent department during strategic exercises; schedule maintenance; advise on security improvements. Systems, Parts, Supplies, and Tools : Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and tools; oversee databases and access control tracking; program electronic locks; provide support and oversight of access control systems. Supervision : Directly supervise two locksmiths, two security systems integrators, one access control coordinator and student employees; manage recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and employee development; promote retention and engagement; handle employee relations. Other Duties : Provide on‑call training and maintenance personnel to service key and access control systems after‑hours; oversee issue and transfer of employee keys; maintain knowledge of workplace rules; communicate with residential building services workers, staff, students, families, and maintenance team members; perform related work as required.
