Financial Services Accountant

The Financial Services Accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide full-cycle accounting to our client, which is comprised of a title and mortgage company. The position will work directly with the operating managers, staff, Accounting Department, and Division President to contribute to successfully achieving the department goals and corporate strategy ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Record journal entries, including daily receivable deposits from title and mortgage transactions into Newstar ERP accounting system, periodic adjusting and closing entries, etc. Maintain closing transaction logs for revenue and cost of sales with reconciliations Maintain general ledgers with reconciliations Maintain and monitor daily Positive Pay processes Maintain and reconcile process for imprest and credit card account payments Reconcile and resolve any escrow and operating account items Respond to all accounting inquiries and provide guidance to operations Provide lender and industry regulation compliance reports and financials Prepare quarterly financial and analytical dashboard reports Coordinate annual budget process Manage annual mortgage company audit and handle random audit requests Assist Division President with analytical reports and presentations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities are required for this position REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily to be successful. The employee must have exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT: Due to the requirements listed above, this position requires an individual to be able to accommodate multiple requests and processes simultaneously in an accurate and effective manner. Requests and inquiries are to be addressed within a reasonable amount of time. REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a dynamic work environment with multiple priorities. The employee must possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university program and at least two years of experience in full-cycle accounting. The employee must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and be proficient in using the Internet.
