Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary students by stepping into a dynamic Life Skills Special Education Teacher position. This contract opportunity is situated in the vibrant South Austin area and offers the chance to work closely with a small caseload in a supportive educational environment.
As a key member of the school's special education team, you will provide tailored instruction and support in a dedicated life skills classroom, helping students achieve important milestones in both their academic and personal development. You will work with a caseload of seven elementary-aged students, delivering individualized lesson plans and collaborating with colleagues, families, and support staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid TX Special Education teaching license (required)
- Previous experience in a life skills or special education setting preferred
- Passion for fostering student growth and building positive relationships
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet a range of learning needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student
- Provide direct instruction in core academics, adaptive skills, and social-emotional development
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with related service providers and classroom assistants
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student achievements and needs
- Foster an inclusive, nurturing classroom culture where every student feels valued
