Summary:

Vighter is recruiting Outpatient Specialty Registered Nurses (RNs) to be assigned to a wide variety of outpatient clinics. These RNs should have work experience in one of the following nursing fields: Behavioral Health, Pediatric Oncology, Operating Room, Post Anesthesia, Family Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Oncology (manger) and Wound Care and multiple Internal Medicine clinics, including, but not limited to: Cariology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Gastrology, Hematology and Oncology to provide exceptional patient care at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX.

The RN provides the full range of nursing services within the scope of practice for a variety of patient-centered specialties and ensures that all JCO standards for care are met during performance of patient care. RNs provide complex and comprehensive professional nursing services within the professional scope of practice for a variety of diagnoses for patients of all ages.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult and child medical outpatient clinics covering a wide variety of nursing focus areas and specialties.
• Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
• Conducts initial assessment on patients, develop nursing care plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care, document all plans, assessments, and care provided. Provide patient and family education through hospitalization.
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including, but not limited to portable dialysis machines, oxygen, hypothermia units, and various types of suction apparatus, infusion equipment, and patient-controlled analgesia pumps (PCA), epidural pumps, sequential compression devices, hemodynamic catheters, monitors, and ventilators, cardio-respiratory monitors and vital sign monitors.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Maintain highest regard for patient dignity, observe precepts of the AHA's Patient’s Bill of Rights.
• Services shall be provided by established standards, principles and professional ethics, applicable professional specialty organizations and the high standard for which Vighter is recognized.
• All Health Care Providers will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge of new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
• Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.
• Occasional schedule flexibility with an end state of 100% staffing and 100% service to the patients.
• An unshakeable adherence to quality and continuous process improvement.
• An apolitical, patient-centered focus that drives to enhanced care and patient satisfaction.
• Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
• Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.

Education:

• Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience as an RN in the last 2 (two) years.
• Nurses applying for any specialty clinic must have had prior work experience in a similar clinic as the specialty clinics identified for this contract.
• Must have and maintain certification in Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine.
• Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements

• The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. However, this key position supports 24/7/365 operations which may require work to be conducted in the day, at night, on weekends, and during holidays.
• This position has availabilities to work day, evening and night shifts. Availability during weekends and holidays is a possibility. Advanced notice will be provided for scheduling purposes.

Travel:

• As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.

Physical Requirements :

• Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
• Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.

• Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.

• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
• Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).

Nursing shift times can consist of one of the following: The Government requires scheduling flexibility to accommodate varying workload demands. Contractors may be required to work shifts of eight (8), ten (10), or twelve (12) hours, as directed by the Government. A thirty (30) minute, unpaid lunch or dinner break is included in each shift. No contractor will be scheduled for more than twelve (12) hours of work within any twenty-four (24) hour period.
32-40+ hour workweeks based on clinic assignment and shift schedule.

All Health and Welfare payments are paid in cash to a maximum of 40 hours worked in any work week. Health and Welfare is not paid on overtime hours worked. There is no multiplier for Health and Welfare for any shift or holiday differentials.
