Your Specific Responsibilities:
Incumbent will be responsible for directing the activities of an investigative field office to improve capabilities and operational procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of the district manager through conferences and review of accomplishments concerning the achievement of the unit and division goals and objectives.
- Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Direct, manage, and monitor the activities of staff in assigned regional office including, investigators and regulatory personnel.
- Delegate when appropriate, assignment, review and quality control of cases, evidence control and other related work.
- Meet with assigned personnel on a regular basis, at least weekly to assess progress, provide guidance and solve problems.
- Serve as team leader on special multi-jurisdictional projects.
- Conduct and ensure training is conducted on a regular basis and in accordance with policy and procedure for the field office.
- Provide guidance to Investigation Supervisors and collaborates on operational procedures.
- Ensure Review and Performance Plans are performed on time and are done objectively and fairly to assure achievement of performance standards/expectations. When appropriate, assures performance improvement plans are made on employees falling below standards.
- Provide support and advice to superiors in a professional manner.
- Enforce orders and policy.
- Prepare reports of recommendations and analyzes statements of functions prepared for operating personnel.
- Ensure office is staffed by the highest quality personnel available through recruiting, interviewing, and hiring personnel in accordance with the Department's policies, procedures, and goals.
- Interprets laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to state statutes and advises subordinates on all policy and procedural changes.
- Responsible for overseeing region office budget through strategic planning.
- Ensure the office is adequately supplied and furnished with the necessary equipment, property, and forms to accomplish its mission and all property is maintained according to policy and procedure.
- Answer public inquiries, make referrals, make public speaking engagements, make professional contacts, and promote the goals and mission of the Department including participation in Sterling related activities and events.
- Managers will be required to be trained in Six Sigma and participate in process management; strategic planning and process improvements to ensure efficient, streamlined procedures.
- Refer press inquiries to the Public Information Office and assists as directed.
- Coordinate with law enforcement officials on unlicensed activity matters at the state, local or federal level and testifies at hearings and trials.

- Performs and documents public presentations as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of computer data bases; knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system used by the Agency; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar; understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations; communicating effectively with others verbally and in writing; listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; knowing how to find information and identifying essential information; conduct fact-finding research; knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials; developing approaches for implementing an idea; basic management principles and practices; conflict resolution to include handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances; motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job; time management skills; ability to prepare and conduct training; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution to include strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques and production methods; ability to provide technical assistance regarding regulatory enforcement issues.
Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of professional experience conducting regulatory inspections or law enforcement investigations;
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Must be willing to physically in the office to perform duties and responsibilities of this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study;
- Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
