ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). The ideal candidate will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients recovering from major surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for patients in the SICU, with a focus on postoperative recoveries, primarily involving vascular surgeries, thoracic surgeries, and laparotomies.
• Utilize advanced monitoring techniques and perform regular assessments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including Hospitalists and Intensivists, to coordinate patient care.
• Manage complex patient needs, including CRRT and ECMO support, with proficiency in line placements.
• Interpret EKG strips and respond to changes in patient conditions promptly.
• Actively participate in unit activities and initiatives aimed at improving patient care and team performance.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: 12-hour Night Shift
• Schedule: Every other weekend and rotation during major holidays
• Report: Bedside reporting at shift change
• Additional Opportunities: Overtime and extra shifts available
• Floating: Potential to float to other facilities within the region

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience, with a background in surgical patients.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 10
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
• Support Staff: Nurse Aides available as Safety Attendants (sitters)

Attire

• Scrub Color: Navy, undershirts must be navy, white, or black
• Scrub Jackets: Optional, must be navy

Orientation

Floor-specific orientation will be provided with a preceptor for 1-2 days to ensure a smooth transition into the unit.
