This position is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and execution of the organization’s information technology operations. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT systems that support clinical, financial, and administrative functions. The IT Manager leads the Information Systems teams, partners with organizational leadership and external vendors to align technology with strategic goals, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system performance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, protecting organizational data, and supporting high-quality patient care through effective technology solutions. This is a full time, 40 hr/wk position with rotating On Call for weekdays, weekends & holidays. Starting salary $83,000; additional compensation based on experience.

•  A $5,000 sign on bonus is eligible with the full-time position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

•             Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

•             Seven (7) years of broad-based IT experience, 4 years in healthcare

•             Professional Certifications in Information Technology and Security. 

•             Commitment to ongoing professional development, including obtaining certifications aligned with organizational IT priorities (cybersecurity, infrastructure, healthcare compliance).

Preferred:

•             Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field

•             Five (5) years of Hospital IT leadership, including project management

•             Certifications in networking, systems administration, cyber security are preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Electronic Health Record (EHR) System Administration

•             Oversee implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the EHR platform. Serve as the primary liaison between clinical staff and the EHR vendor, managing upgrades, downtime windows, and workflow configuration.

Clinical Systems Integration & Interfaces

•             Manage HL7/FHIR interfaces connecting the EHR to ancillary systems — lab (LIS), radiology (RIS/PACS), pharmacy etc. and point-of-care devices. Coordinate with interface engines to ensure data flows accurately across platforms.

Cybersecurity & Threat Management

•             Lead the hospital's security posture: endpoint protection, firewall management, vulnerability scanning, staff phishing training, and incident response. Coordinate with the HHS 405(d) Health Industry Cybersecurity Practices framework given the elevated targeting of rural facilities.

Help Desk & End-User Support

•             Oversee or directly staff a help desk serving clinical and administrative users. Prioritize clinical-facing issues (nurse workstations, clinical decision support tools to avoid care disruptions.

Vendor & Contract Management

•             Manage relationships with software vendors, hardware suppliers, telecom carriers, and managed service providers. Negotiate SLAs and renewals.

Systems & Network Maintenance

•             Maintain the health and performance of all server infrastructure, network equipment, and supporting systems through proactive monitoring, scheduled maintenance windows, and capacity planning. This includes managing Nutanix HCI nodes, switches, routers, firewalls, UPS units, and data center environmental controls. Perform routine tasks such as firmware and patch updates, hardware diagnostics, log reviews, and performance tuning. Maintain thorough documentation of network topology, IP addressing schemes, system configurations, and change logs.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

•             Develop and maintain DR/BC plans covering system downtime procedures, off-site backups, and failover for critical clinical systems. Conduct regular tabletop exercises with department leads and document manual downtime workflows for clinical staff.

Organizational IT Leadership & Representation

•             Serve as the primary face of the IT department across the organization — building trust and credibility with clinical staff, administration, department heads, and the board. Translate complex technical concepts into plain language for non-technical audiences, and actively participate in leadership meetings, committees, and strategic planning sessions. Foster a service-oriented culture within IT, ensuring staff and clinicians view the department as a responsive partner in care delivery rather than a barrier. In a rural hospital, where the IT team is small and highly visible, the IT Manager's approachability and communication style directly shapes how technology initiatives are received and adopted organization wide. Represent the hospital externally with vendors, regional health networks, state agencies, and peer institutions, and advocate for technology resources and funding that support the hospital's mission.
