Associate Counsel

In-House Counsel PositionIn-house counsel role providing support across the Legal Department of a growing financial services company focused on insurance, retirement and investment management. The individual will initially focus on developing a deep knowledge of the company's products, services and operations with a focus on managing claims, litigation and regulatory matters. This position offers a tremendous growth opportunity for an attorney interested in joining a high-performing team and building a career in financial services.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport all phases of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including claims disputes, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiriesAssist in managing outside counsel, tracking case developments, and supporting litigation strategy and reportingConduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery materials, and responses related to litigation and regulatory mattersPartner with compliance and fraud teams to investigate and respond to suspected fraud, policyholder disputes, and regulatory issuesAnalyze legal and regulatory risks associated with insurance products, distribution channels, and business initiativesMonitor and summarize developments in insurance laws, regulations, and litigation trends impacting the businessCollaborate cross-functionally with IT, product, compliance, and operations teams to mitigate legal riskPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesJuris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the life insurance industry (private practice or in-house)Admission to the Connecticut BarExperience or demonstrated interest in insurance law, financial services regulation, or litigation requiredExcellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detailAbility to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environmentStrong work ethic coupled with a proactive growth mindsetHumble but not passive.
