Job Title: Product Manager - Market Data Location: NYC (Mid‑Town) Employment Type: Full‑Time, on‑site Hybrid Compensation: Base + Competitive Bonus *Must Have - Investment Management/Financial Markets Experience (Hedge Funds, Asset Management, Sell‑Side, Brokerage Houses, Financial Exchanges) We are working exclusively with a prop trading firm to identify a Market Data Product Manager for a newly created seat within their data and technology function. This is a rare opportunity for a technically grounded product manager to take full ownership of a critical data domain at a firm where data quality, coverage, and delivery directly influence investment decisions. The Role You will serve as the primary product owner for the firm’s market data ecosystem — spanning data sourcing, vendor management, entitlements, and delivery infrastructure. This is not a conventional PM role. The firm needs someone who can engage at a technical level with engineers and quant researchers while simultaneously managing commercial relationships with major data vendors and driving strategic decisions around data coverage and cost. What You'll Be Doing Owning the market data product roadmap — coverage, quality, cost, and delivery infrastructure Managing relationships with major data vendors — Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, and alternative data providers Using Python and SQL to interrogate data pipelines, validate data quality, and generate analytical insights Partnering with quant researchers, portfolio managers, and engineering teams to translate data needs into actionable requirements Evaluating new data sources and vendors against investment and operational criteria Driving data governance, entitlements management, and cost optimisation across the data estate Producing clear, data‑driven reporting for senior technology and investment leadership What We Are Looking For 7-12 years product management experience with a market data or data platform focus Hands‑on Python and SQL proficiency — used actively for data analysis, pipeline validation, and insight generation, not just familiarity Deep understanding of financial market data — reference data, pricing, analytics, and alternative data Experience managing vendor relationships with major market data providers Strong stakeholder communication — credible with quant researchers and engineers as well as senior leadership Financial services or hedge fund experience essential Ability to operate with autonomy in a lean, high‑standards environment Beneficial Experience with cloud data platforms — Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent Familiarity with data entitlements and permissioning frameworks Exposure to alternative data sourcing and evaluation Understanding of quantitative research workflows and investment processes Experience with data contracts or API gateway patterns #J-18808-Ljbffr Goldman Lloyds
