Role Details Role: Sr. Accountant Reports to: Corporate Controller FLSA: Exempt Location: El Cajon, CA Why is this Role Important at Genesee Scientific? The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and financial reporting duties, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements, and company policies. This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes and controls. Requirements What will you do? Manage and execute key month‑end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks Manage accounting transactions and implement system solutions to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting Build cross‑functional relationships across departments to support company initiatives, ensuring adherence to policies; identify and elevate key issues to senior leadership, partnering to drive problem‑solving and decision‑making Recommend and implement changes to strengthen the internal control environmentContribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses as needed Oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and reconciled regularly What you will bring Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required CPA certification required 5+ years of experience in accounting field, 3 years in public accounting preferred Strong understanding of financial accounting standards and internal controls Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems such as Sage Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data Experience in implementing and improving business processes and systems Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong problem‑solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with effective communication skills Physical Requirements Primarily sedentary work performed in a climate‑controlled office environment Regularly required to sit for extended periods Occasional standing and walking within the office area Benefits Training and professional growth initiatives, including comprehensive onboarding programs for new team members Competitive compensation packages and 401(k) retirement savings plans Health care and well‑being programs including medical, dental, vision, life, short‑ and long‑term disability and employee assistance programs Paid time off—Vacation, Sick and 12 holidays Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
