Nurse Practitioner Inpatient Palliative Care
PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a vibrant Inpatient Palliative Care team in Vancouver, Washington. Medical, spiritual, and emotional assistance helps patients and their families to ease the symptoms of life-threatening illnesses. Consider coming onto a team that is supportive, helpful, and meaningful. The ideal candidate will have one or more years post graduate experience in Inpatient Palliative Care. Candidates with a Palliative Care Certification are highly desired.
Highlights About The Practice:
- Join a collegial team of two Nurse Practitioners and a Physician Medical Director, seeing ~4-5 patients daily, with support from RNs and MSWs.
- 100% inpatient and ability to grow the service line in our community.
- Southwest Medical Center has on-site complex case management teams, social workers, chaplains, and partnerships with the Ray Hickey Hospice House.
- Full-time schedule; no call or weekend requirements.
- Epic EMR.

Job Summary:
Within scope of practice and in alignment with both hospital staff bylaws and PHMGs physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow-up care for patient. Responsible for patient and family teaching.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
- Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
- Prescribes medications and treatments and ongoing medication management. Orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets test results.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals and consultations according to established standards.
- Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Required: Must fulfill educational requirements to obtain ARNP license in State of Practice

- Required: Nurse Practitioner - Washington or ability to obtain during onboarding process
- Required: Drug Enforcement Admin and
- Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support and
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs. (Required)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills (Required)
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, nursing staff, and other departments. (Required)
- Personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth and collaborating with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality. (Required)

- Experience dealing with terminally ill patients.
- Valid driver's license with an automobile that is insured to state regulations and is in good running order.
- Five years' advanced nursing practice preferred.
- Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) preferred.
